*ESSAY WRITING*
*Stages in writing essays*
*(1)*. Identify the topic of the essay
*(2)*. Deciding on the purpose of the essay
*(3)*. Identify the audience of the essay
*(4)*. Gathering information of the essay
*(5)*. Write the essay itself
*WRITING THE COMPOSITION*
In writing the composition, one must pay attention to grammar, punctuation and style:
*(1)*. Clearness is the most essential: therefore, words must be chosen accurately, phrase and clauses must be placed in the regular order: all pronouns must be clear in their references
*(2)*. Slang and colloquial expression must be avoided.
*(3)*. The first person should not be used in any essay in which the subject can be treated impersonally.
*examples* I think, in my opinion, must not be used. It is always possible to use impersonal expression such as it's generally agreed. it's probably a fact.
*(4)*. write simply words and do not endeavor to drag in long words.
*(5)*. When you begin to write composition you should remember that you will need Introduction, the body and the conclusion.
*INTRODUCTION*
The introduction should arouse the readers interest and state the main idea of the composition:
*(1)* It must catch the readers interest
*(2)* . It must inform him or her about the main points of the composition.
*BODY OF THE LETTER*
The body should states and develops the main points in the outline. In stating and developing your main points, you should pay special attention to the paragraphs comprising the body of your composition.
*CONCLUSION*
The conclusion should summarize the main points of the essay. Revise what have written. it's most important that everything that's written should be thoroughly revise. This will help you to detect a number of errors which can easily be detected.
*PARAGRAPHING*
A paragraph is a series of sentences developing one topic or point. The paragraphs of the essay must not be numbered. Headings must not be inserted in the body of the essay. Single sentence paragraph should be avoided. Become familiar with the linking words so that you can use them to make your thoughts flow along smoothly.
*LINKING EXPRESSION*
*(1)*. To start with, or In the first place
*(2)*. To add to the above, or also
*(3)* In addition, or furthermore
*(4)* To sum up, or finally, or to conclude.
*TERMS FOR EXAMPLES*

*(1)*. Use proper form of your letter. The choice of the form of your letter depends upon the type of letter you are writing
*(2)*. Make your letter clear. To make your essay clear, plan what you are going to say and how you are going to say it.
*(3)*. Make your letter attractive. When your letter is not neat and clearly written, it will affect your readers opinion.
*(4)* Use correct grammar, punctuation and spellings. A letter full of grammatical errors will lead the reader to assume that you are uneducated.
*(5)*. Mistakes in usage of words, and misspelt words will not make a good expression. Be yourself. make your letter natural.
